About

Mission Statement

Our Mission at Stoney Creek Battle is to provide a long-term club in an underserved community.  We will make it our mission to:

  • Provide a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for athletes to develop lifelong skills both on and off the court
  • Focus on athlete development, emphasizing growth, effort, and a lifelong love for the sport of volleyball
  • Support athletes in building confidence, resilience, and strong moral character
  • Deliver high quality coaching that prioritizes both performance and personal development

Vision

Our Vision at Stoney Creek Battle is to create a club in which both coaches and athletes can be successful in their own way.  We envision this happening by working towards:

  • Becoming a well-respected volleyball organization that develops well rounded athletes and positive team / club culture
  • Inspire love for volleyball and physical activity
  • Create pathways for all athletes and coaches to achieve personal and team goals from recreational to competitive volleyball
  • Foster a community where athletes, coaches, and families feel connected and supported by all

Values

We have created a list of 5 core values that Stoney Creek Battle will work towards always upholding.  These values will lead our executive and coaches for all interactions both on and off the court:

  • Respect – treat teammates, coaches, officials, spectators, and opponents with integrity and sportsmanship
  • Growth Mindset – embrace challenges, learning from mistakes, and strive for continuous improvement
  • Teamwork – value collaboration, communication, and putting the team first
  • Accountability – all parties will take responsibility for effort, attitude, and commitment to themselves and the team
  • Positivity – promote encouragement, confidence, and a supportive environment

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

At Stoney Creek Battle, we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all athletes, families, coaches, and community members feel valued, respected, and supported. We believe volleyball should be accessible to everyone regardless of background, identity, culture, ability, or socioeconomic circumstances. We strive to remove barriers to participation and create equitable opportunities that allow every individual to thrive and feel a sense of belonging within our club community. As part of this commitment, we are working closely with a Métis family to help guide our understanding and ensure our programming reflects and supports the needs of all community members in an equitable and meaningful way. Through listening, learning, and collaboration, we aim to build programming that celebrates diversity and creates opportunities for everyone to participate and succeed.

Pathways and Programs

Stoney Creek Battle was created to address a growing need for accessible volleyball programming within the Upper and Lower Stoney Creek communities. As an underserved area for organized volleyball opportunities, we recognize the importance of creating local pathways that allow youth to participate, develop, and stay connected within their own community. Our goal is not only to build athletes, but also to give back by creating a positive space where children and families can learn, grow, and build lasting relationships through sport. To support athletes at all stages of development, Stoney Creek Battle will offer a variety of programming opportunities. Our Grassroots program for ages 6–10 will introduce young athletes to volleyball through fun, engaging activities that focus on movement, teamwork, and foundational skill development. For athletes ages 10–18, we will provide skills clinics and house league programming designed to encourage participation, build confidence, and create opportunities for continued growth regardless of experience level. For athletes seeking a higher level of competition, we will also offer competitive teams for ages 12–18, providing structured training and pathways for players to pursue personal and team goals. Through these programs, we aim to create an inclusive volleyball community that serves local families and provides opportunities for all athletes to participate, develop, and succeed close to home.

At Stoney Creek Battle Volleyball, we believe that building a strong club starts with building a strong community. We actively encourage and promote involvement from parents, athletes, and community members, recognizing that meaningful engagement creates a more connected and supportive environment for everyone involved. We will seek out volunteers to assist with committee planning and club initiatives, providing opportunities for individuals to contribute their ideas, skills, and experiences to help shape the future of the organization. These efforts will be led by our Board of Directors, with committee positions reviewed and new members elected annually to encourage fresh perspectives and continued community involvement. To ensure a fair and transparent process, application dates, requirements, and committee opportunities will be posted on our website at least 30 days prior to application deadlines, allowing interested individuals adequate time to apply and participate. Through this approach, Stoney Creek Battle aims to create a club culture where all members of the community have a voice and feel invested in the success and growth of the organization.
